What does it mean to be consistent? Dictionary.com defines it as, "steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc." We live in a world full of inconsistency where often times people change habits and lifestyles as often as the latest fashion trend. God is looking for a people who are consistent in the things of Him.
One of the best Biblical examples of consistency is Daniel. During his time in the Babylonian rule, Daniel was gaining favor with the king. The other administrators in the kingdom didn't like Daniel and they plotted to kill him. They got the king to sign a law that anyone who prayed to someone other than the king would be thrown into a pit of lions.
The bible tells us in Daniel 6:10, “But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.”
Because of this he was thrown into the pit of lions, but God rescued him and prevented the lions from eating him. It is important that we see it says he knelt down as usual and he prayed just as he had always done. Daniel didn't just start praying when trouble came, but lived a life of prayer. God spared him because he was already a man of prayer long before his life was threatened.
Don't wait until trouble comes to call on God. Build a life of consistent prayer and relationship with God. When you become consistent in your Christian walk, God will bring calm to your storms and consistency to the other areas of your life that need His stability. If you don't currently have a consistent relationship with God, then why don't you start one today.
